Scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses all are methods intended to provide transparent and replicable ways of summarizing a body of research to address an important clinical or public health issue. Research methods are specific procedures for collecting and analyzing data. Additionally, meta-analysis is dependent upon the quality. As with all statistical methods, there are indications and contraindications for the use of meta-analysis. When to use: To review experimental and non-experimental research simultaneously, to define concepts, to review theories, to review evidence/point out gaps in the literature, to analyze methodological issues.
